Someone Want to Explain Pings and Trackbacks?

Ok, Being reborn into this blogging thing with WordPress... I need a comprehensive guide to what in the world a Ping and Trackback is, how to use them, what they are used for, etc.

Anyone care to help?

Gotta love paper, doesn't require batteries or need to be recharged. When u are done with it, it becomes more paper.
